The "Be Room Cliff" Tag

For this tag I had a pile of papers with characters names on it. For each round I would pick three characters at random and have to choose who I would want to be, room with, and kill.

Round #1
Be- Cinder (from Cinder by Marissa Meyer)
Why be regular old Cinderella while you can be a cyborg too!

Room- Cammie (from the Gallagher Girls Series by Ally Carter)
I have always loved the girls school and would want to train to become a spy.

Cliff- Tris (from Divergent Trilogy)
The irony in this!

Round #2
Be- Hazel Grace (from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green)
Just so I could have met Augustus Waters...sigh

Room- Katniss (from the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins)
No explanation necessary

Cliff- Mara Dyer (from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin)
Mara is kinda of creepy and this way I don't have to worry about getting on her bad side.

Round #3
Be- Max (from Maximum Ride Series by James Patterson)
All of the adventures the gang goes on would be so much fun, plus I would have wings!

Room- Aria (from Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi)
I have always been intrigued by Aria's world throughout this trilogy.

Cliff- Lena (from Delirium by Lauren Oliver)
She was just kind of left, Lena did nothing to deserve this.

Round #4
Be- Scarlet (from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer)
Dibs on Wolf!

Room- Belly (from Summer Series by Jenny Han
This way I can hang around in their beach house!

Cliff- Ruby (from The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken)
Ruby has these abilities that she still doesn't now how to use properly, so I am limiting future casualties.

*I enjoyed this tag please tell me what you thought and if you have also done it before!

The Book Lovers Survey

The Book Lovers Survey

1. Do you remember how you developed a love for reading?
I have loved reading for as long as I can remember. In fifth grade my teacher had a library in his classroom. I remember I had read most of the books that he had. Also in middle school, I would read  books daily from which I checked out at our school library. I went so many times that the librarians actually knew who I was.

2. Where do you usually read?
I like to read on my bed because it's the most comfortable for me.

3. Do you prefer to read one book at a time or several at once?
Several! I always have a large stack of books by my bed. Some people think it can get confusing but for the most part I remember each  book easily.

4. What is your favorite genre?
I used to read a lot of contemporary but now I have found myself to be reading more Fantasy. Though I will read any good book.

5. Is there a genre you won't read?
I have never really read non-fiction. Not because I don't like it just because I don't have a certain topic that really intrigues me.

6. What is your favorite book?
Currently:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
OR
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

7. Do you have a least favorite book?
Probably it would be a book that I had to read for school for example:
Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
The Lord of the Flies by William Goulding
The Odyssey by Homer

8. What is the biggest book you've ever read?
From the top of my head I just finished "The Darkest Minds" by Alexandra Bracken it was about 507 pages.

9. What is the last book you bought?
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
AND
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

10. Do you prefer to buy books or library books?
If I am reading a book for the first time I like to check it out of the library to see if I enjoy it enough to buy it.

11. What are you reading now?
I am currently reading "The Pledge" by Kimberly Derting.

Meant to Be Review

Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
Published: November 13th 2012 by Delacorte Books for Young Readers
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Pages: 304
Format: Hardcover
Rating: 5/5 Stars

Description:

Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.

It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").

But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.

Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

My Thoughts:

MTB was such a sweet contemporary. While reading this book I was either smiling or laughing out loud. This book is set in London which makes this book that much better. Even though, of course, there were a few cliché and cheesy parts. Overall, this was a very cute and fluffy read. Perfect for this spring!

Quotes:

"Why does everyone think a girl who prefers books to people must be in want of a life."

"I don't use airplane bathrooms. As a rule. And I really don't like breaking rules. (It's kind of one of my rules.) I mean, if I'm going to plummet to my death, it's not going to be with my pants around my ankles."

About the Author:

My name is Lauren, and I wrote a book called Meant to Be. It’s available pretty much anywhere books are sold, but I recommend checking out your local indie. I’ve been told it’s very funny and swoony, and I think you should buy it. My second YA contemporary novel, Being Sloane Jacobs, hits shelves on January 7, 2014. I’m currently hard at work on a third book.
I love YA books, roller skates, public radio, the Internet, road trips, my dog Lucy, and my guy Adam. And I’m a Nerdfighter ‘fo LIFE.

Top Five Wednesday: Sequels

#T5WFamily
Note: This is in note particular order
because it was impossible to pick the order!

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #1)
by Suzanne Collins

The majority of you have read this book. I knew it would be hard for this book to top The Hunger Games but it was a very strong book. It was action packed and we were also introduced to new characters! I had reread it before the movie had come out for a refresher. It reminded me how much I adored the book was as well as the movie!

The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #2)
by Michelle Hodkin

This book! I truly have no words that could describe how STUNNING this book is. After finishing this book I then realized I had to wait until November till the third installment came out. Since this is the second book I don't want to give anything away, but if you ever have to read a book read this series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pandemonium (Delirium #2)
by Lauren Oliver

The first book of this trilogy, Delirium, I found a bit difficult to get into. I wasn't a huge fan of Lauren Oliver's writing style near the beginning of the first book. As I forced myself to continue the second half was much better. As I decided to continue on to this next book I was worried I wouldn't enjoy it. Then Lauren Oliver through a curveball that I didn't see coming. This book completely captured me with the new characters and story line. A great read!

Prodigy (Legend #2)
by Marie Lu

This is the second book in the completed dystopian trilogy. I really enjoyed the first book, Legend, but worried this book wouldn't live up to its expectations. Marie Lu had such great character development between the two main characters. This trilogy is just waiting to be made into a movie, Marie Lu's writing is basically like reading an action movie. I still have yet to read the third and last book, Champion.

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2)
by Marissa Meyer

Marissa Meyer has really surprised me by her retellings of fairy tale stories. Cinder was good but not great. Personally, I liked Scarlet's story better and you still had alternating point of views between Cinder and Scarlet which kept variety. I need to read the third book entitled Cress!

The Sky is Everywhere Review

The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

Published: March 9th 2010 by Dial
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Pages: 288
Format: Hardcover
Rating: 5/5 Stars

Description:

Seventeen-year-old Lennie Walker, bookworm and band geek, plays second clarinet and spends her time tucked safely and happily in the shadow of her fiery older sister, Bailey. But when Bailey dies abruptly, Lennie is catapulted to center stage of her own life - and, despite her nonexistent history with boys, suddenly finds herself struggling to balance two. Toby was Bailey's boyfriend; his grief mirrors Lennie's own. Joe is the new boy in town, a transplant from Paris whose nearly magical grin is matched only by his musical talent. For Lennie, they're the sun and the moon; one boy takes her out of her sorrow, the other comforts her in it. But just like their celestial counterparts, they can't collide without the whole wide world exploding.

This remarkable debut is perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen, Deb Caletti, and Francesca Lia Block. Just as much a celebration of love as it is a portrait of loss, Lennie's struggle to sort her own melody out of the noise around her is always honest, often hilarious, and ultimately unforgettable.

My thoughts:

This book focuses on how people grieve differently when they lose someone they love. Jandy Nelson writes a beautiful debut book. This book brings you on an emotional roller coaster that you must get on!

Quotes:

"The sky is everywhere, it begins at your feet."

"Grief is forever. It doesn't go away; it becomes part of you, step for step, breath for breath."

"And then he smiles, and in all the places around the globe where it's night, day breaks."

About the Author:

Jandy Nelson received a BA from Cornell, an MFA from Brown in poetry, and another MFA from Vermont College in writing for children and young adults. A literary agent for many years, she is also a published poet. The Sky Is Everywhere is her first novel. Jandy lives in San Francisco. www.jandynelson.com, www.theskyiseverywhere.com

The Fault in Our Stars Review

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Published: January 10th 2012 by Dutton Books
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary
Pages: 318
Format: Hardcover
Rating: 5/5 stars

Description:

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

My Thoughts:

Hazel Grace and Augustus Water, the two main characters, have captured my heart as well as many others. I don't know how John Green is able to narrate from the point of view of a teenage girl, but he still manages to pull it off. Grab a box of tissues and read this novel before the movies comes out on June 6th 2014 (in the US).

Quotes:

"The marks humans leave are too often scars."

"The world is not a wish-granting factory."

"Maybe 'okay' will be our 'always'"

About the Author:

John Green's first novel, Looking for Alaska, won the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award presented by the American Library Association. His second novel, An Abundance of Katherines, was a 2007 Michael L. Printz Award Honor Book and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. His next novel, Paper Towns, is a New York Times bestseller and won the Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best YA Mystery. In January 2012, his most recent novel, The Fault in Our Stars, was met with wide critical acclaim, unprecedented in Green's career. The praise included rave reviews in Time Magazine and The New York Times, on NPR, and from award-winning author Markus Zusak. The book also topped the New York Times Children's Paperback Bestseller list for several weeks. Green has also coauthored a book with David Levithan called Will Grayson, Will Grayson, published in 2010. The film rights for all his books, with the exception of Will Grayson Will Grayson, have been optioned to major Hollywood Studios.

In 2007, John and his brother Hank were the hosts of a popular internet blog, "
Brotherhood 2.0," where they discussed their lives, books and current events every day for a year except for weekends and holidays. They still keep a video blog, now called "The Vlog Brothers," which can be found on the Nerdfighters website.
